Pune rural police has busted fake toll receipts fraud worth Rs 2.28 crore

Pune: Six employees of a private agency at the Khed-Shivapur toll plaza along the Pune–Bengaluru highway were arrested for allegedly charging vehicles for fake tariff receipts in February. Now in further development of the investigation, police has busted a fraud of Rs 2.28 crore in the same case.

According to the Pune rural police, the investigation team had probe the audit report of the last month of the toll plaza located at Khed Shivapur. The report shockingly revealed that 2,000 vehicles were allegedly asked to pay for fake toll receipts resulting recovery of Rs 3.8 lakh.

In February, a team of Local Crime Branch (LCB) of Pune rural police led by Senior Police Inspector Padmakar Ghanwat raided and arrested six people in this case. The accused were identified as Suresh Gangawane, Ajay Chavan, Sanket Gaikwad, Akshay Sanas, Shubham Dolare, Sai Sutar, and Amol Konde (residents of Satara and Pune). The other suspects, Vikas Shinde, Manoj alias Dada Dalvi, Satish Margaje and Hemant Bathe are still on the run.

Police in their previous raid confiscated 30 fake toll receipt, mobile phones, computer units, printers while cash worth Rs 32,070 was also recovered from the accused. The police also stated that the alleged fraud, which resulted in a fraud of Rs 2.28 crore, had been running for two months. The police are probing the matter further.
