Pune: Gambling den busted, action against seven including co-opted PCMC corporator

Pune: The Bhosari police raided a gambling den on Saturday (October 17) night and closed it down. Police took action against seven persons including one co-opted corporator from the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC).

The raid was conducted at a house behind hotel Sarja in Kasarwadi. Police have seized items worth Rs 36,660 including eight thousand rupees in cash.

Police claimed that the gambling den was being run by the co-opted corporator. Police have taken action against all the seven persons under section 141 (a) of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC). They have been given a warning under these sections.

According to police, Bhosari police received a tip off about a gambling den being operated from a house in Kasarwadi. The raid was conducted at around 9.45pm on Saturday. Police nabbed some people who were engaged in gambing at the site. They were detained and the cash and other items were seized.
