Pune: Mask compulsory, even if you are Ronaldo, says city police

Pune: City police is known for using their social media presence to share vital advice that helps, creatively, spread awareness among masses. Their latest ‘Cristiano Ronaldo asked to wear mask’ inspired post is a testimony to their advanced communication practices. The share summarises important advice everyone should follow to curtail the spread of contagion.

Pune Police on their Twitter handle wrote, “Mask compulsory, even if you are a Ronaldo. #WearAMask #OnGuardAgainstCorona.”

Since being shared on the Twitter, this advisory post has captured attention of thousands of netizens.

Gradually the sporting events around the world are back on track as the world is still battling the novel coronavirus. While many sporting events are being conducted without spectators under proper COVID-19 rules, wearing face masks and maintaining social distancing is the new ‘normal’.

However, during the UEFA Nations League match between Portugal and Croatia, Portuguese star player Cristiano Ronaldo was pictured seated in the stands but without a face mask. CR7, who was not included in international squad amid a bee sting, was interfered and told by a member of staff inside the stadium to wear a face mask, keeping the safety of the players in mind.

Meanwhile, Pune city reported 774 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday taking the tally of COVID-19 cases in the city to 2,02,702. Also, 2 persons lost their lives amid the contagion taking the death total in the city to 4,855. On the positive front, 427 people recovered in the city on Sunday. The total recoveries in the city now nears two lakh mark.
