Pune municipal commissioner-Kumar appointed to advisory committee

Pune: Municipal Commissioner Kunal Kumar has been appointed on the global city leader advisory committee of 100 Resilient Cities-Pioneered by The Rockefeller Foundation. 

The organisation helps cities around the world to become more resilient to the physical, social and economic challenges that are a growing part of the current century.

The organisation provides assistance through funding for each member city which will lead the resilience efforts; resources for drafting a resilience strategy; access to the private sector, public sector, academic and NGO resilience tools; and membership in a global network of peer cities to share best practices and challenges. 

The office of 100 Resilient Cities will work closely with Kumar as he takes up the leadership role in the 100RC network joining the new City Leader Advisory Committee to work with global peers to take collective action to solve urban challenges.
Addressing the press after the announcement of his appointment to the advisory committee on Wednesday, Kumar said that in the coming decades, building urban resilience will be critical if cities are to survive, adapt and grow to meet the challenges of the future.

Bhaskar Bhattacharya as its candidate for Chief Resilience Officer, a brand-new role in the city of Pune that will work closely with the public and private sector to further Pune’s urban resilience mission.
