Pune: NHAI conducting independent inquiry in fake receipts case of Khed Shivapur toll plaza

The Pune Rural Police had busted this fake receipt racket in February which was operating at the Khed Shivapur toll plaza

Pune: National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) is conducting an independent inquiry in connection with the fake receipts case at Khed Shivapur toll plaza. NHAI Project Director Suhas Chitnis told media persons that pending this inquiry report, appropriate action will be taken against the concerned persons.

Chitnis said, "We are finding out how the racket was operated, when did it start, who was responsible for the lapse. The inquiry report will be submitted by our engineers after which we will send it to our senior officials. Accordingly, appropriate action will be taken against the concerned persons."

The Pune Rural Police had busted this fake receipt racket in February which was operating at the Khed Shivapur toll plaza. Police had arrested seven suspects including one contractor at the toll plaza. The audited transaction report at Khed Shivapur toll plaza had revealed that 2,000 fake receipts for a total of Rs 3.8 lakh amount were issued on a single day (February 24) alone.

Police had identified the suspects as Suresh Gangawane (25), Akshay Sanas (22), Shubham Dolare (19), Sai Sutar (25), Ajay Chavan (19), Sanket Gaikwad (22) and Amol Konde (36). Among these, Konde is the contractor at the toll plaza. Other contractors booked in this case were identified as Vikas Shinde, Manoj Dalvi, Satish Margaje and Hemant Bathe.
