Pune: Teen relative violates minor girl after making her watch obscene videos

Pune: Shikrapur police have booked two teenagers on charges of raping an 11-year-old girl after making her watch obscene videos in Pabal village of Shirur taluka in Pune district on August 1. 

Shikrapur police have filed a FIR against the two suspects under section 376 (rape) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of Indian Penal Code and other relevant sections of The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act 2012. Of the two suspects one is a 17 years old juvenile boy and the other is a 19 year old boy. The girl’s mother has lodged a complaint against the two at Shikrapur police station.

According to police, the girl and the 17-year-old minor suspect are relatives and they knew each other. The 17-year-old boy being a minor in age has been admitted in a remand home. The other suspect has been identified as Mangesh Chavan (19) and he has been arrested and remanded to police custody for six days.

According to the complainant, she had scolded her daughter on August 1 evening and the girl had left the house in rage. The girl had gone to a neighbour’s house and was returning home at around 8pm when the suspects approached her. Mangesh kept a watch outside, while the other boy took the girl to an isolated place. He showed her obscene videos and physically assaulted and raped her. Mangesh kept the mobile with him and abetted in the crime.

When the girl did not return home till late night, her mother asked one neighbour Sagar to look for her. Sagar found the girl crying near a temple and told her mother about it. When the mother inquired about it, the girl narrated the incident. The woman then informed her relatives and lodged a complaint at Shikrapur police station against the two boys. Assistant Police Inspector Vikram Salunkhe is investigating the case.
