Pune: Unable to conceive child, woman tortured with black magic

Pune: A shocking incident has come in the spotlight in Bhigwan (Pune), where a 21-year-old married woman who could not conceive a child was allegedly forced to undergo black magic witchcraft puja for conceiving a child. For these rituals her husband and her in-laws compelled her to undergo and threaten to desert her if she does not follow it.

The incident came to light after the 21-year-old woman approached the Bhigwan police station which falls under the jurisdiction of Pune rural police to lodge a First Information Report against her husband and her mother-in-law. All are booked under the relevant sections of Indian Penal Code as well as under the Maharashtra Prevention and Eradication of Human Sacrifice and other Inhuman, Evil and Aghori Practices and Black Magic Act, 2013.

According to the police officials, “The incidents are being taken from 2017 till date. The complainant is a housewife. She was married at the age of 18. Her mother-in-law was forcing her for the child. She was taunted for not conceiving the child based on which her mother-in-law met a woman who claimed to be a Godman, who will help her.”

The police added, “The victim refused to undergo such rituals but still her husband and in-laws forced her to undergo such malpractice for which she was beaten and abused repeatedly. She faced a lot of humiliation and was manhandled by godman. After facing such humiliation, she approached the police and registered the case. We are investigating the case and soon we shall arrest all.”
