Pune: Zomato delivery executive beats up cafe owner in Baner

Pune: A delivery executive working for food delivery app Zomato allegedly assaulted a hotel owner in Pune over the cancellation of the order. The incident took place on February 20 but the case was registered on Tuesday against the two suspects at the Chatushringi Police Station.

Vishal Vijay Agarwal (40) who runs a cafe named Buon Cibo in Baner road has filed the case against Rameshwar Waghaji Tadse (35) and his partner.

WHAT HAPPENED EXACTLY

According to the FIR report, one customer ordered food from Buon Cibo cafe located in Baner. The order was placed at 7.30 pm. The owner was waiting for the delivery executive (Rameshwar Tadse) to dispatch the food. When the executive did not come to pick up the order even after one hour, the owner called Zomato and complained. Meanwhile, the company shared the contact number of the second delivery executive and he reached to pick up the order.

When the second delivery executive reached the cafe, Tadse also reached at the same time to pick up the order. The hotel owner told Tadse that the order was given to the other executive, as he had not arrived on time. According to the complaint, Tadse got furious and soon, a quarrel arose between the duo during which Tadse hit the hotel owner’s head. In no time, Tadse and his partner fled from the spot. The staff of the hotel took the owner to a hospital.

The police are investigating the case further.
