The stormy conditions over parts of Central India are expected to continue for the next three days, as a new wet spell has been forecast over the region starting Thursday. Parts of Vidarbha also received rainfall on Thursday.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast overcast conditions for Pune city post noon, with the temperatures in day set to hover below 35 degrees till Sunday. Pune is witnessing around 37 degrees maximum temperature in March, so far. However, a surge in humidity levels could help light showers along with winds over the city and adjacent areas during the afternoon till the weekend.

According to The Weather Channel’s met team, a trough stretching from North Karnataka to East Madhya Pradesh is set to source rainfall over central part of the country. Therefore, isolated to scattered rains accompanying thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds blowing at the speed of 30-40 kmph are very likely over in-land Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh during the next three days, according to IMD.

Also, isolated hailstorms are predicted over West Madhya Pradesh for two days and over Chhattisgarh, East Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha region of Maharashtra.

The Met department has also raised a ‘yellow alert’ with chances of thunderstorm and lightning for two days, in parts of Vidarbha and districts such as Beed, Parbhani and Nanded. In addition, Nashik, Ahmednagar, Jalgaon and neighbouring districts in Madhya Maharashtra may experience rain over the weekend.
