Rajiv Gandhi Zoological Park celebrates Wildlife Week

PUNE: Pune Municipal Corporation's (PMC) Rajiv Gandhi Zoological Park and Research Centre has organised various programmes, competitions, lecture series and an exhibition as part of the Wildlife Week celebration. The celebration will go on till October 7 to raise awareness among students, youth and common man about conserving wildlife.

The celebration of Wildlife Week was introduced for the first time in 1952 to educate citizens about protection of endangered species, and make them aware of the need to protect wildlife. The PMC's zoo also organised an exhibition based on the theme of recycling scrap.

The other awareness programmes organised by the zoo are street plays, puppet shows and a wildlife trip to Rajiv Gandhi Zoological Park in Katraj.
