Pune: A software engineer was allegedly beaten up and his car was damaged by a two-wheeler rider at Wakad near Ginger hotel on the service road of Mumbai-Bengaluru highway. The techie's wife, who tried to intervene during the altercation, was also molested by the biker, police said.
According to the complaint, Nishant Sinha, a resident of Palash Society in Wakad, was beaten up by the unidentified biker. Nishant's wife has lodged the complaint in this regard at Wakad police station.
As per the FIR, the suspect has been booked under sections 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 427 (mischief causing damage), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.
WHAT IS THE EXACT CASE
According to police, Nishant, his wife and daughter were travelling in their car on January 26 at around 7 pm. They had reached the service road of Mumbai-Bengaluru highway in front of Adi Group W-57 an under-construction project near Ginger hotel in Bhumkar Chowk at Wakad.
A man, riding his two-wheeler Honda Activa bearing registration number MH14 HX 9346, was behind their car and was continuously honking. He was trying to overtake the car but could not do so. When Nishant questioned him about the unnecessary honking, the biker started abusing him. The suspect then started hitting the car with his legs and also broke the window glass of the car.
The suspect then hit Nishant on his head and cheeks. When Nishant's wife tried to intervene, the man abused her too and shoved her away. The suspect also threatened the couple with dire consequences when Nishant's wife said that they would report about the incident to the police.
Assistant Police Inspector Sapana Devtale from Wakad police station is investigating the case.
