Pimpri: Shiv Sena MP from Shirur, Shivajirao Adhalrao Patil has been invited by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for joining it. It is learned that the responsibility of his induction was been assigned to Union Minister Nitin Gadkari during his visit to Pune and he has reportedly invited Patil to join the BJP.
But even after 15 days of the offer, Adhalrao Patil has chosen to keep BJP and his party members guessing. He has neither accepted nor refused the offer.
If Adhalrao Patil joins the BJP, it will be a big political development in Shirur parliamentary constituency. This includes two assembly constituencies in urban areas, one in Pune and one in Pimpri-Chinchwad.
The BJP has started preparing for 2019 parliamentary and assembly elections in advance.
The BJP has a strategy of getting 350 MP’s elected in the country.
As part of that strategy, the people who have elective merit and are unhappy with their current political parties are being contacted by the BJP leaders. Different leaders have been assigned for this task.
BJP has been not able to elect its MP in Shirur constituency so far. Therefore the party has zeroed in on Adhalrao Patil, who is three times MP from the constituency and has significant mass support in the area. During last parliamentary election, he was prepared to contest the election against NCP Chief Sharad Pawar, which did not happen as Pawar decided not to contest Lok Sabha elections. It has been observed that Adhalrao is getting elected as he is getting votes on his own merit and not on the parties name.
Considering this BJP is not fielding a candidate who can defeat Adhalrao Patil for the time being in Shirur taluka.
It is learnt that Adhalrao Patil is not happy in Shiv Sena as he is not getting respect in the party that he deserves. His supporters feel that his seniority was not considered by the party at the time of giving a ministerial berth in the Union government.
If Adhalrao Patil joins BJP it will be bad news for BJP MLA from Bhosari constituency Mahesh Landge as he is preparing for contesting an election in Shirur Lok Sabha for 2019.
