Pune: A 20-year-old college boy has been arrested by Dattawadi police on charges of bike theft. Investigations revealed that the boy used to steal plush bikes from the city to impress his many girlfriends who used to demand to go on long rides. Police have recovered the five stolen bikes from the possession of the boy.
The arrested boy has been identified as Saurabh Dattatrey Chorge (20), a resident of Ambegaon Pathar). Saurabh completed his education till class 12. He used to work in cloth merchant’s shop before the lockdown.
According to police, Saurabh had lost his job during the lockdown. He has many girlfriends and wanted to do anything and everything to impress them. Some of his girlfriends always demanded to go on a long ride on a bike. Thus, Saurabh decided to steal some plush bikes in the city. He stole five such bikes.
Police constables Kundan Shinde and Sagar Sutkar from Dattawadi police received a tipoff about the bikes in possession of Saurabh. They laid a trap at the Vasantrao Bagul garden in Shivdarshan area near Parvati. When Saurabh came on a stolen bike at the gate of the garden, police intercepted him.
Saurabh was interrogated about the bike documents but he refused to give satisfactory answers to police. He was then taken into custody for further questioning upon which he revealed that he had stolen five such bikes from the jurisdiction of Dattawadi and Bharati Vidyapeeth police station.
