Pune: You must be engaged in household chores of Diwali such as mopping and cleaning. Meanwhile, a strange case from Pimpri-Chinchwad has come to light which will make you go crazy.

A 45-year-old Rekha Selukar, while cleaning the house before Diwali, dumped a purse along with old and hoarded things. When the garbage van came to take away the garbage, the woman sent it their way, along with the bag. But soon after two hours, she came her into senses that the bag which she threw away had a pouch with gold and silver jewellery worth Rs three lakh in it.

According to the information received, the woman told the incident to her son. The son gave this information to a top officer of the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC). It was then ascertained at what time the garbage van went to the depot and dropped the garbage. The administration’s sanitary inspector, Sushil Malayie, was told about the incident. He informed the depot manager, Hemant Lakhan, about the same. He was able to find the compactor which could possibly have the bag.

Lakhan beyond his limits sifted through 18-tonnes of garbage to find the bag. After nearly one hour of searching through the garbage, the bag was found! The nervous Selukar family was called to the garbage dump where they were handed the pouch by Lakhan.

The family was thankful when the bag was back and was extremely grateful to Hemant Lakhan for going out of his way to find it for them. Certainly, Diwali makes us understand that life is a gift that just keeps on giving.
