Pune: India on Monday started with COVID-19 vaccination drive for people aged above 60 years and those over 45 with comorbidities.

The central government said, “Government of India is taking all necessary steps to ensure that the nation is prepared to face the challenge and threat posed by the growing contagion of COVID-19. The exemplary groundwork and precaution advisory by the Government has helped in containing the spread of the virus in our country.”

One must note the COVID-19 vaccine will be administered free of cost at government hospitals while one has to pay for vaccine jabs at private hospitals. Private hospitals are allowed to charge Rs 250 - Rs 150 per dose and Rs 100 service charge. Participants will have three methods of registration - advance self-registration, on-site registration and facilitated cohort registration.
