When Pimpri Chinchwad’s Police Commissioner disguised himself before a reality check

Pimpri: The cops at various police stations in Pimpri Chinchwad were baffled after the city’s Police Commissioner Krishna Prakash, in a surprise check on Wednesday night visited police stations for a reality check.

Pimpri Chinchwad Police Chief donned a yellow kurta along with a skull cap and put on a fake beard and a henna-coloured wig. Along with the Commissioner, Assistant Police Commissioner Prerna Katte also acted as his ‘wife’.

INCIDENT 1

In the first incident, the ‘couple’ visited the Pimpri police station to complain about the emergency ambulance service for charging an exorbitant price for taking an ailing neighbour to the nearby hospital. The complaint did not affect the cops present on duty there. The ‘couple’ was asked to complain about the Sant Tukaram Nagar police chowky which was three kilometres away. Soon when this couple revealed their identity, cops on the duty were stumped.

INCIDENT 2

The ‘couple’ made a way to visit Wakad Police Station. They complained that a biker had snatched the woman’s gold chain. The Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) within minutes rushed to the spot. The police on duty also the ‘couple’ to go home as it was not good to be out late at night amid COVID and also offered to escort them home in a police van. Taken aback by their helpful nature, the police chief revealed his identity to them and lauded the efforts of the cops.

INCIDENT 3

‘Jamal Khan’ (Prakash) went ahead to Hinjawadi Police Station. The man complained to police that some anti-social elements have harassed his wife in the Bavdhan area when they were returning after offering Namaz prayers. The Hinjawadi police in no time rushed to the spot where the incident took place. The cops also caught few youths bursting crackers. After watching the prompt action by the police, Prakash revealed his identity and also lauded praise for the cops on the duty.

The police commissioner had a good experience during the reality check. The police chief has taken serious note of the things and has stated that he will continue this check in future.

THE DYNAMIC IPS

(IPS) officer Krishna Prakash took charge as the Pimpri-Chinchwad police commissioner from outgoing Sandeep Bishnoi to become the third commissioner of Pimpri-Chinchwad in September last year. The police officer has overtaken the police force at a time when the fourth phase of unlocking has begun and cases of Covid-19 are rising all over the Pune region.

Krishna Prakash, an Inspector General of Police (IGP) rank officer is also an avid triathlete from Jharkhand. He has completed the Race Across the West (RAW) - a 1,497km long cycling race that took place in the USA in 2019. Being an athlete, the dynamic cop has also completed the Ironman Challenge and Ultraman triathlons. Ironman consists of 3.8 km swimming trailed by 180 km cycling and a 42-km marathon. While, the Ultraman requires a competitor to swim in an open ocean for 10 km, cycle for 421 km and then run for 84 km to reach the finish line.
