PUNE: Mahametro officials on Friday said work of metro project on PCMC-Shivajinagar corridor has reached 30 per cent.

This was revealed by Chief Project Manager Gautam Birhade of Mahametro.

“Around 110 pillars of the proposed 400 on PCMC-Shivajinagar corridor has been erected. Similarly work of 150 foundations has been done. The work on stations has started in Sant Tukaram Nagar, Kasarwadi, Phugewadi and Dapodi,” added Birhade.

The metro project from Shivajinagar to Swargate will be divided into two parts, Shivajinagar to Budhwar Peth and from Budhwar Peth to Swargate. “While Swargate will be a multimodal hub a similar integration with other transport utilities will be required at Shivajinagar. The Shivajinagar metro station will be integrated with Shivajinagar railway station, PMT bus stand and state transport stand,” Birhade further added. From Vanaaz to Civil Court stations the Mahametro has laid 77 foundations and erected 14 pillars.

The Mahametro will be building an information centre in the city for solving queries of people. “Currently there is one information centre for PCMC-Shivajinagar corridor. We will be shifting the centre in city,” added Birhade.
