If Grand Alliance emerges out to be the winner in Bihar, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav may become the youngest Chief Minister of a state at the age of 31. Tejashwi, the youngest son of former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Yadav and the Chief Ministerial candidate of the Mahagathbandhan is making buzz from past few months.

Before people in Bihar decide his fortune to take Chief Minister’s seat, how many of you know the man who turned 31 on Monday was once a cricketer? You read it right. Tejashwi Yadav was seen trying vigorously on the cricket field before showing his stroke on the political field. Before he joined the game of politics, Tejashwi was a cricketer.

While studying in Delhi Public School Mathura Road, Tejashwi looked different from the rest and was thought that he would do something in cricket but his desire turned towards politics.

Trivia: Tejashwi is also the youngest opposition leader in India.

There was a time before his political career geared up, he spent a short part of his life playing cricket.

Talking about his domestic performance, Tejashwi, however, he has played seven matches in which he has scored 37 runs and scalped one wicket. Donning a jersey for Jharkhand in a first-class match in 2009, Tejashwi scored 20 runs in two innings. 10 years back in prestigious Vijay Hazare trophy, son of Lalu Yadav managed to play two List A one-day matches for Jharkhand.

In his stint at Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy competition, he played four matches here. In the T20 circuit, he batted just once in four matches where he managed to score three runs.

One may not believe that Tejashwi was a part of the Indian Premier League’s club Delhi Daredevils (which is now Delhi Capitals) from 2009 till 2012. Unfortunately, he never managed to part of Playing XI.

At the age of 19, Tejashwi was signed by Delhi Daredevils in 2009. He was reportedly paid a huge sum of Rs 30-40 lakh between 2009 and 2012 by the franchise. Later his father expressed anger on the club for not giving a chance to his son to play atleast one game. His father Lalu Prasad in the Parliament House expressed, "My son Tejaswi is part of the Delhi club in the IPL. But all he has done is carry water to the field. They don't give him a chance to play."

Though he did not shine much in the game of cricket, November 10 will be the date where he will surely dream that his party will score big in the Bihar elections.
