Dehu Road Army lads march ahead with win

Pune: Army Public School, Dehu Road finished with an all-win record to qualify for the junior boys’ knock-out (quarterfinals) stage of the Reliance Foundation Youth Sports (RFYS) football tournament here on Thursday.

At the PCMC (Hedgewar) ground, Army Public School won their last league encounter in Group G defeating Kamalnayan Bajaj High School 3-0. Adharbh Kumar’s 27th minute strike gave them a 1-0 lead at half time, before a goal each by Sushant Phalke (45th) and Adarsh Pal (59th) helped them cruise to an easy victory.

It was Army Public School’s third win and took their tally to 9 points.

Goel Ganga International School who had a field day in the junior boys section yesterday were held to a 1-1 draw by St Ursula’s High School. GG went ahead via Tuesday’s 11-goal hero Satvik Nayak in the 35th, which was cancelled by Akshay Iyer (53rd).
