Devesh, Aditya score as Netaji School wins

Pune: Aditya More and Devesh Gurnani scored a goal apiece as Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Boy’s Military School, Phulgaon, defeated Shree Anantrao Kulkarni English Medium School, Narayangaon, 2-0 to storm into the semifinals in the Boy’s section of the Schoolympics Hockey tournament at the Major Dhyan Chand Poligras Stadium in Nehrunagar, Pimpri on Monday.

Aditya opened the account for Netaji School in the 11th minute before Devesh scored the second in the 26th even as the Narayangaon school struggled to find the target in the first quarterfinal.

Also moving into the semifinals was Range Hills Secondary School, Khadki, who rode on to braces from Aditya Rasala, Anthony Kevin and Harsh Warpe in beating St Ursula High School, 6-1. Aditya struck the first goal in the fifth minute and was up again in the front to make it 2-0 in the 16th minute. St Ursula reduced the margin through Jaskaran Singh Arora in the 23rd minute, but Anthony struck soon after--scoring two goals in a space of five minutes as Range Hills Secondary School dominated the proceedings. Harsh then found the targets twices in a space of one minute to round-off the scores to 6-1. 

St Anne’s, St Joseph win
Ritali Kamble struck four goals and Alpana Toppo scored an hat-trick as St Anne’s High School, and St Joseph’s High School, scored comprehensive wins and cruised into the Girl’s semifinals. Ritali opened the goal binge for St Anne’s scoring in the 12th, 31st, 38th and 39th minutes.

St Anne’s High School, Camp, 9 (Priya Chougale 2nd, Ritali Kamble 12th, 31st, 38th, 39th, Priyanka Sharma 19th, 29th, Husiena Chinwala 22nd, Lavanya Salunkhe 40th) beat St Ursula High School, Akurdi 0.
St. Joseph High School, Pashan 6 (Yesha Pagedar 7th, Kimaya Natekar 4th, Alpana Toppo 15th, 22nd, 30th, Hrudaya Thatte 21st) beat Pride English School, Ambegaon (Budruk) 1 (Sneha Kanherkar 37th).
