Talking about the hosts, Virat Kohli and co had won the first ODI here by 66 runs. The win was scripted largely by the performances of younguns, pacer Prasidh Krishna and all-rounder Krunal Pandya, both debutants.
About the injury update, India will miss Shreyas Iyer who dislocated his left shoulder in the first game and it will be interesting to see who India play in his place. According to multiple reports Suryakumar Yadav is the right candidate to take over. Also, India's strength has been their pacers’ ability to use change of pace to make things difficult for the visitors.
The English side have also not been able to raise the form that won them the 2019 World Cup. They have lost four of the last five matches they have played, including the previous game.
England bowling lineup, on the other hand, are not been able to master their bowling. To add to their woes, their prime bowler Jofra Archer is out of the ODI amid injury. The visitors' also face middle-order muddle. In the first ODI, while the openers provided a blistering start, raising 135 in just over 14 overs, the middle and lower-order came unstuck against India's tight bowling.
In the long tour, India had already defeated England in the Test series 3-1 and won the T20 International series 3-2. If Kohli and co win this game, it will be a hat-trick of wins across the three formats against the Englishmen.
