A 22-year-old, Osaka born in Japan and now based in the USA, added to her trophies from the 2018 US Open produced with a dazzling performance in a remarkably frenzied final against Serena Williams -- and 2019 Australian Open.

Certainly, no roaring applause that normally would reverberate over this year amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead, a well-mannered little of claps from several hands marked such moments. Naomi stated she wants to be known for more than just tennis, signifying she will keep campaigning for racial justice after winning her third Grand Slam. Osaka, of Japanese and Haitian heritage, wore different masks honouring victims of racism in the United States in each of the tournament's seven rounds.

Meanwhile, playing in their first-ever tournament together, unseeded partners Laura Siegemund and Vera Zvonareva clinched the 2020 US Open women's doubles trophy after registering a straight-set win over Nicole Melichar of the US and Xu Yifan of China.

The unseeded tandem defeated the third-seeded opponents 6-4, 6-4 in 79 minutes on Friday afternoon to claim the title at the Arthur Ashe Stadium.
