PUNE: SSPMS Day School defeated Caelum High School 1-0 in the first round of the Under-14 category of the Zilla Parishad football tournament being played at the PDFA ground in Dobarwadi on Friday.

Sameer Jhakde scored the lone goal for SSPMS Day school in the 20th minute. In another game, SPM English Medium School defeated Kroot Memorial School 1-0 with Malhar Tatuskar scoring in the 23rd minute.

In a close encounter, Mata Ramabai Ambedkar School defeated Lokseva English School 2-1 to advance to the next round. Yash Lonare from Mata Ramabai Ambedkar School scored a brace in the 9th and 16th minutes while Aditya Wagh struck for Lokseva in the 27th minute.    

Also registering a victory was RMD Sinhgad Spring Dale School who defeated opponents RB Academy, Camp 2-0.
