Suraj, Prajwal enter semifinals in style

BENGALURU: It was a day when the favourites made hay as all the top four seeds stormed into the semifinals of the Bengaluru Open Wild Card AITA ranking tennis tournament being played at the KSLTA here on Thursday.

Local lad and top seed Suraj Prabodh led the way eliminating sixth seed Yugal Bansal of Delhi 6-3, 6-1 while second seed Dalwinder Singh of Punjab quelled the challenge of Arjun Honnappa 6-3, 6-4. In the other quarterfinal ties, third seed Prajwal SD Dev of Karnataka defeated Sahil Gaware of Maharashtra 6-3, 6-2 while fourth seed Mohit Mayur Jayaprakash of Tamil Nadu overcame seventh seed Paramveer Singh Bajwa 7-6 (5), 6-3.

The winner of the Rs 3-lank event will get a coveted spot in the main draw of the upcoming USD 150,000 Bengaluru Open.

Quarterfinals: 1-Suraj Prabodh (Kar) bt 6-Yugal Bansal (Del) 6-3, 6-1; 3-Prajwal SD Dev (Kar) bt Sahil Gaware (Mah) 6-3, 6-2; 4-Mohit Mayur Jayaprakash (TN) bt 7-Paramveer Singh Bajwa (Pun) 7-6 (7-5), 6-3; 2-Dalwinder Singh (Pun) bt Arjun Honnappa 6-3, 6-4.
Doubles, Semifinals: 1-Prajwal SD Dev and Mohit Jayaprakash bt Nikit M Reddy and Rishi Reddy  6-4, 6-3; Suraj Prabodh and Dalwinder Singh bt  Sahil Gaware and Paramveer Singh Bajwa 6-3, 2-6, 10-4.
