Twitter Meme Fest: Akila Dananjaya took a hat-trick and then went for 6 sixes

He became only the third Sri Lankan bowler after Chaminda Vaas and Lasith Malinga to take a hat-trick for Sri Lanka.

Sri Lankan off-spinner Akila Dananjaya became the only man in the world to take a hat-trick and then getting smashed for six sixes, making it one the rarest moment in cricket’s history.

The spinner took a hat-trick in the fourth over of the match after dismissing the heavyweights of the West Indian batting lineup. He dismissed Lewis, Chris Gayle, and Nicholas Pooran to achieve the milestone of taking a hat-trick. He became only the third Sri Lankan bowler after Chaminda Vaas and Lasith Malinga to take a hat-trick for Sri Lanka.

However, his joy was short-lived as Kieron Pollard played a spoilsport for the Lankan spinner and hammered him for six sixes in the sixth over the match.

Interestingly, this was a comeback match for Dhanajaya who was making a return to international cricket after 12 months-suspension. He was suspended after his bowling action was found to be illegal. Prior to his suspensions, Dananjaya had been Sri Lanka's leading spinner in the limited-overs formats.

As expected, the incident sent Twitter into a frenzy and Twitterati posted hilarious memes on this rare occurrence in cricket.

On the other hand, Kieron Pollard became only the second batsman to achieve the feat in T20Is and the third in international cricket. While Herschelle Gibbs was the first to do it in an ODI against Netherlands, Yuvraj Singh had smashed England's Stuart Broad for six maximums in the 2007 T20 World Cup.
