Vibgyor overcomes Matoshree 2-0

PUNE: Narayani Parag and Ananya Sharma scored in a tense tie-breaker to help Vibgyor High School, NIBM, score 2-0 win over Matoshree English Medium School in the Under-14 Girls second round match in the Zilla Parishad football tournament in progress at St Patrick’s High School on Monday.

Both the teams were tied 1-1 at the end of the regulation time as Sakshi Natkar helped Matoshree draw level in the 26th minute after Ariyana Punjabi had given Vibgyor lead in the eighth minute.

As the tie-breaker was forced, Vibgyor kept their cool with Narayani and Ananya scoring even as Sarisha Agarwal, Rutuja Shevale and Ariyana missing the target. For Matoshree though Kashish Gavli, Alfia Shaikh, Ishika Pardeshi and Sakshi all missed their spot kicks.

In the first match of the day, Vidyabhavan High School rode on the brace from Riya Rajesh and a goal from Anika Pradesh (9th). Riya found the target in the 17th and 26th minutes.

RESULTS
Under-14 Girls (Second round):
Vidyabhavan High School 3 (Anika Prasad 9th, Riya Rajesh 17th, 26th) beat Nagarvala (Day)  HS 0.
SES Gurukul 1 (Rama Deshmukh 10th) beat Anglo Urdu Boys High School 0.
Vibgyor HS NIBM 1 (Ariyana Punjabi 8th) beat Matoshree English Medium School 1 (Sakshi Natkar 26th). Tie-break 2 (Narayani Parag, Ananya Sharma)-0.
