Leaping forward, Apple Inc plans on introducing self-driven cars with 'next level' battery technology. The reports published by Reuters talk about the company's plan to unveil the same in 2024. According to the report, the vehicle will use a self-driven technology paired with a 'mono cell' battery. This unique battery not only uses larger cells than usual, but it also delivers a more extensive range when compared with the traditional designs.

Although Apple has previously produced LIDAR arrays for its iPhone and iPad Pro models, this time the company is sourcing the same from its outside partners.

The reports have also stated how Apple has developed a 'new technology' to reduce the cost of electric cars batteries. These batteries will also work at increasing the vehicle's range.

It is also reportedly exploring lithium-iron-phosphate battery chemistry instead of lithium-ion, as that option is less inclined to overheat.

The 'Apple Car' is also expected to be outsourced to a manufacturing partner, like its consumer electronic line-up in 2024. However, in its report, Reuters mentioned how sources spoke about the delay in production due to the pandemic. Headed by Doug Field (former Apple hardware engineer), the project earlier let go of 200 staff members in 2019. Rehired after working with Tesla, Doug returned to the company to refocus the efforts on the software front.

The tech-giant efforts in automation have proceeded unevenly since 2014, and have been titled 'Project Titan'. Due to its uneven approach, Apple also ended up reassessing its goals for focusing on software.

And since the company declined to comment on the same, it is unclear to determine the source who would be assembling an Apple-branded car. However, the report stated that the company is looking at a manufacturing partner, which will help them build the vehicle.
