From the most trending profile terms to the best day and time to swipe, Tinder looked at how users across the globe have built their profiles and swiped their way through the year
While some use Tinder to boost self-esteem by finding a (hopefully) perfect match, others simply are on the app to keep boredom at bay. This dating app connects users based on geographic proximity, bringing people who are already close by, closer. Bringing us interesting deets about the way millennials have dealt with love and romance on their app this year, Tinder releases Year in Swipe 2018.
While in the US, UK, and Australia, the popular gif featuring Joey from F.R.I.E.N.D.S delivering his popular line ‘How You Doin?’ was most circulated, Brazil, Spain, France, Gremany, Japan, South Korea and India used the Waving Fox gif the most.
Tinder also looked at the most popular cities to Passport (a feature that allows a user to change their location setting) into globally and Los Angeles topped the list followed by New York City, Mumbai, Delhi, London, Bengaluru, Pune, Sao Paulo, Miami and Paris.
As for Super Likes, the feature which intimates a user that you ‘super liked’ them while they are contemplating which side to swipe on your profile — New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Gurugram rank 4, 5, 9 and 10.
While the flirtatious wink tops the list of the most used emojis, the cool sunglasses, toothy grin, heart eyes and tears of joy emojis follow. The app witnessed the highest swipe surge on September 6, the day of the Section 377 Supreme Court verdict.
Since Tuesday is considered an auspicious day in India, it came as no surprise that the statistics showed it was the most popular day for users to be be actively swiping away on the app. And apparently, the peak time for this is 9 pm, after a hard day’s work, it seems like the best way to unwind.
