Wok On!

Wok On!

Aren’t all individuals different from each other in terms of their looks, the way they dress, or the flavours they enjoy? While some people actually like eating all vegetables, there are a few picky eaters like us who loathe them. Which is why the trend of customisation in the food industry deserves a thumbs up! We can choose what we want to eat and what we want to give a miss, and have the meal cooked right in front of us. How awesome is that?

True to its name, the Quick Wok, is the place where you can walk in hungry and walk out happy because you get to choose, and mix and match your flavours and your meal is ready before you can say snap!

Located at Baner-Pashan Link Road, this one is slightly bigger than the rest of the outlets in the city.  Though they have a limited menu, there are a number of flavour combinations you can choose to try out.

We started dinner with two Wok starters, though choosing the protein was much easier than selecting the sauces and the gravy, because there’s a long list with options varying in spice levels.

Since we like our food to be a bit spicy than the usual, we decided to go with the Mongolian Chicken which had fried chicken chunks cooked well in a Mongolian sauce made with onions, bell peppers and five spices. The sauce was spicy, but it also had a hint of lemon grass.

We also had the Kung Pao Prawns with a Thai sauce. The king sized prawns were cooked to perfection in the mildly spicy Kung Pao sauce with a tangy flavour which was nicely balanced by the Thai sauce which had hints of peanuts. The flavour of the sauces, the prawns and the crunchy bell pepper along with onions worked well together and the flavours managed to stand out distinctively.

The starters were not dry because of the right amount of sauces that the protein was cooked with. You can also choose from a variety of beverages that the Quick Wok has to offer, right from the popular favourites Lemon Iced Tea and Cold Coffee to the newest additions like the Virgin Mojito, Kiwi Cooler and Fizzy Rose.

For the main course, we decided to select our own Mini-Sized Wok boxes. For the first one, we chose brown rice as the base, which was mixed with vegetables like bell peppers, mushrooms, baby corn, spring onions and a little bit of cabbage. Then we picked the Mongolian sauce with a combination of the Thai sauce. Though the Mongolian sauce was spicy, our taste buds were calmed by the freshly tossed vegetables and the layer of peanut drizzle (crushed peanuts). The diced chicken in the Wok box was succulent and juicy and nicely covered in the sauces.

For the second box, we requested for less vegetables (as mentioned earlier, we are a picky eater). Just a little bit of spring onions and chopped onions, we told the server, who smiled and obliged, without making us feel judged for not selecting the healthiest option there. The noodles too were cooked just the way we like them. The topping of sesame and crushed peanuts added just the right amount of crunch to my meal. And even though the box was a mini, it was so filling that we had to make an effort to polish it off.

For those who are into dieting, the place offers a variety of Keto Wok boxes and Salad Woks which won’t leave you disappointed.
