Upcoming events for second-anniversary celebration
A place that tells tales of the beauty of India, Zapurza, a non-profit organisation dedicated to encourage interest and learning of Indian art forms, is turning 2 this May. The organisation’s second anniversary brings a celebration to the city, with a wide range of activities and events lined up for Indian culture enthusiasts. This cultural extravaganza is being held at the Zapurza campus, in Pune on May 11, 12, 18 and 19, 2024. The event promises to bring events that are bound to keep you awestruck by the splendour and beauty of the art forms of India.
Zapurza, meaning ‘a creative state of mind’, is a museum of art and culture which showcases Indian culture and art forms to society, especially children. It aims to create awareness and appreciation of our artistic heritage. The organisation's unique name that manifests its noble cause in its meaning comes from the poem Zapurza by Marathi poet Keshavsut. The poem holds an earthly touch as it sings about the happiness creation brings, leaving worldly worries aside. Zapurza Museum of Art and Culture perhaps holds the exact essence of the poem in its activities, attempts and purpose. It also emphasises the spread of knowledge about Indian arts, making its museum a resource for gaining knowledge on India’s art legacy.
With a wide array of artistic experiences, Zapurza brings to the visitors exhibitions by talented artists, workshops, dance, music and theatre performances. A jewel in the cultural garland of Zapurza is the collection it holds. From artworks by legends of the Indian art scene like Raja Ravi Varma, M.F. Husain and Prabhakar Barwe, Oleographs and Lithographs by Raja Ravi Varma Press and others, old and majestic Indian jewellery to sarees and fabrics, Zapurza is a delight for art and culture lovers in Pune.
For Punekars, the next two weekends are about to be painted in the festivities of Indian culture as the celebrations for Zapurza’s second anniversary are about to commence. The schedule for the event has been uploaded on the Instagram handle of the organisation, bringing excitement through the planned performances and activities. Instrumental performances, art experiences, music and dance performances by some of the finest artists of the country are expected to be the highlights of this cultural event.
Other than entertaining and mesmerising cultural performances, the audience will also get to be a part of the festivities through activities and workshops lined up for them in this event. Activities range from pottery, jewellery making, glass painting, block printing, calligraphy workshop, storytelling, caricature and more. These unique activities are being organised by Zapurza Museum, Maharashtra Mandal, Art Apart and Kalyani Phadnis at the upcoming celebration.
