O mkar Kapoor says that he is open to all mediums — TV, web and movies — as he promotes his upcoming web series Kaushiki, which will stream on OTT platform Viu soon. Sayani Gupta plays the title role in the thriller series, which also stars Ranvijay Singh, Namit Das, Manasi Scott, Rajeev Siddharta and Shruti Srivastava. Suparn Verma, who has previously directed movies and web series, is the director of Kaushiki.

Omkar was last seen in another web series U, Me Aur Ghar. “It’s not like I am concentrating on web series, television or any particular medium. Whatever work is coming my way, I am trying to make the best of it. I am mainly looking for interesting work and this story was every bit interesting. I therefore decided to do it,” he adds.

But most film actors prefer to continue working in films. Very few work in other mediums. Is he concentrating on web because of lack of interesting work in films? “There are enough interesting scripts in films. To be very honest, I am waiting for those opportunities to come my way. I hope to get a chance to be a part of them. Even web medium is great because there are different stories that you can tell and there is more creative freedom. It caters more to the youth,” he says.

Omkar adds that no matter what kind of project is being offered to him, it should excite him. “I should instinctively feel like I want to play the character.”

Moving to Kaushiki, he says, “I am playing a billionaire’s son who has been brought up with lot of love and attention. He is, however, not a spoilt brat. He is a nice person and loves his friends more than himself.” He says that his character wants a kick in his life to do something. “He wants some kind of adventure in his life and ends up landing in trouble often,” he adds.

Omkar says that Kaushiki, which is a 13-episode series, brings different characters together. “The story is an amalgamation of all these but each one stands out. Also, I enjoy thrillers which are new for me,” he explains.

Speaking of his experience shooting on the series, Omkar says, “We used to hang out together even after shoot. We shot for 15-20 days and had loads of fun. Namit is also a singer so he used to sing for us and Suparn is quite an energetic person so his energy would become infectious. Everyone was so charged up while on sets.”

As for his future projects, he says that once an official announcement comes from the makers, he will talk about them.
