At the start of this year, Bollywood wanted to believe that the worst phase of COVID-19 has come to an end as the theatres across the county were reopened and the focus was largely getting shifted to releasing the big-budget films in the following months. However, the initial euphoria was short-lived as India was soon hit by the second wave in March. The film industry, which is one of the badly-hit industries due to the coronavirus pandemic, has once again succumbed to coronavirus outbreak leading to a halt in film shoots. From Aamir Khan to Akshay Kumar, many prominent Bollywood stars have also tested positive for COVID-19 in recent months.
Lets take a look at the list of celebrities who have tested positive in the second wave.
Alia Bhat
Alia Bhat took to social media to announce that she has tested positive for COVID-19 on April 1. She wrote, “ Hello all I have tested positive for COVID-19. I have immediately isolated myself and will be under home quarantine. I am following all the safety protocols on the advice of my doctor. Grateful for all your love and support. Please stay safe and take care.”
The actor recently launched the trailer of the next movie “Gangubai Kathiawadi”, which will release on July 30, 2021.
Aamir Khan
Aamir Khan contracted coronavirus on March 24. The ‘Dangal’ actor spokesperson confirmed the news and said that he was at home in self-quarantine, following all the protocols, and doing fine.
Ranbir Kapoor
Ranbir Kapoor also tested positive for Covid-19 last month. Ranbir’s mother Neetu Kapoor shared the news on March 12, saying that he is on medication and recovering well. However, the ‘Rockstar’ actor had recovered within days and recently tested negative.
Vicky Kaushal
Actor Vicky Kaushal turned detected COVID-19 on Monday. Vickey took to Instagram to share the news.
Bhumi Pednekar
Vicky Kaushal’s co-star in ‘Mr Lele’ Bhumi Pednekar also tested positive for coronavirus on Monday.
Akshay Kumar
On April 4, Akshay Kumar announced that he has tested positive for COVID-19. In an Instagram message, Kumar said that he is following all Covid-19 protocols and also urged people who recently came in contact with him to get themselves tested. On Monday, 45 members of Akshay Kumar’s ‘Ram Setu’ film crew also tested positive for Covid-19.
Govinda
Veteran Bollywood actor Govinda also tested positive for COVID-19 on April 1. He is under home quarantine and has urged all the people who came in contact with him to get themselves tested.
Kartik Aryan
The ‘Love Aaj Kal star had also contracted COVID-19 last month while shooting for his upcoming movie ‘Bhool Bhulaiya’. Kartik Aryan has since then recovered from the deadly infections and recently tested negative.
Paresh Rawal
Actor-politician Paresh Rawal was diagnosed with the COVID-19 on March 26. The actor informed about the news on social media, asking others who came in contact with him, to get themselves tested.
