Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are all set to appear in their first American TV interview post royal split. In the two promos that aired last week, the couple is seen spilling the beans on “some pretty shocking things.” So, ahead of the tell-all Oprah Winfrey interview with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, which will air on March 7, lets take a look back at the power couple’s love story.

The Blind Date

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s love story began in 2016 when they were introduced to each other on a blind date by a mutual friend in London. Despite Harry’s global fame, Markle didn’t who he was before they met. She explained her first meeting with Prince Harry in an interview with the BBC: “Because I’m from the States, you don’t grow up with the same understanding of the royal family. I didn't know much about him, so the only thing that I had asked [our mutual friend] when she said that she wanted to set us up, was, 'Well, is he nice?' Cause if he wasn't kind, it just didn't seem like it would make sense. "

In February 2021, Prince spoke about how the couple got serious within the first two months of dating during the interview with James Corden on “The Late Late Show with James Corden”

"The second date I was starting to think: this is pretty special," Harry told Corden, adding that “We went from 0 to 60 like in the first two months.”

Rumours about the new couple

Following months, romance rumours intensified that Harry was dating an American actress even though the couple kept a low-profile. The couple kept their relationship secret from the media, however, they were frequently pictured together

Official confirmation

Prince Harry confirmed her relationship with Meghan Markle in a formal statement on November 8, 2016. In the statement, Harry also spoke the media scrutiny and asked the British press to stop the wave of abuse and harassment directed towards her girlfriend Meghan Markle.

“His girlfriend, Meghan Markle, has been subject to a wave of abuse and harassment. Some of this has been very public - the smear on the front page of a national newspaper; the racial undertones of comment pieces; and the outright sexism and racism of social media trolls and web article comments.” Prince Harry said in a statement.

“Prince Harry is worried about Ms. Markle’s safety and is deeply disappointed that he has not been able to protect her. It is not right that a few months into a relationship with him that Ms. Markle should be subjected to such a storm,” the statement added.
