Pune: After 19 long years, the much-loved Marathi film Navra Maza Navsacha is all set for its sequel. Directed by Sachin Pilgaonkar, Navra Maza Navsacha 2 will release on September 20, 2024, much to the delight of the fans.
The announcement of the sequel has stirred a wave of excitement among the audience, who have fond memories of the original film. Fans, however, were curious about one particular aspect of the casting.
With Sachin Pilgaonkar’s daughter Shriya Pilgaonkar having made a name for herself in Bollywood, many wondered why she wasn't cast in a lead role for the sequel. Shriya is known for her acting talent and has delivered impressive performances in various projects. The question was posed to Sachin during a recent interview on the show Maza Katta.
Responding to the inquiry, Sachin explained that his decision was driven by two key factors. First, he had envisioned Swapnil Joshi in the role of his son-in-law.
"Swapnil is like a son to me, and casting Shriya opposite him wouldn’t have felt right because they share a sibling-like relationship," Sachin clarified. "It wouldn't have made sense to portray them as a couple in the film."
The second reason was Shriya's busy schedule. "When we began working on this project, Shriya was already occupied with other commitments and didn’t have time for this film," Sachin said. This scheduling conflict ultimately led to the decision not to cast her.
Navra Maza Navsacha 2 features a fresh star cast, with actress Hemal Ingle playing the role of Sachin's daughter. Meanwhile, Supriya Pilgaonkar will reprise her prominent role in the film, further fueling excitement among fans eagerly awaiting the sequel.
