On Thursday, one of the most popular Pakistani bands, Strings announced the end of their musical journey as a collective. The pop-rock band, formed by Bilal Maqsood and Faisal Kapadia, rolled-out widely popular songs like Yeh Hai Meri Kahani to Zinda and Aakhri Alvida from Shootout at Lokhandwala, among many others.
The post shared on the band’s official Instagram page said, “Hey guys. This post is a bit different from the usual. We have decided that today, 25/03/2021, is the day we graciously get to conclude STRINGS.”
The post further noted, “The past 33 years have been incredible for both of us. It’s so rare to have the chance to be able to do things like this and we are infinitely grateful to all of our fans for making it possible. We hope you found it worthwhile as well. While the band technically may not be together anymore, both of us share an inseparable bond that will connect us no matter where life takes us. Thank you so much for everything.”
What started as a college band with four members in the 1980s, their hit was Sar Kiye Ye Pahad. The band disbanded in 1992 but reinvented themselves with two original members Maqsood and Kapadia. They had been going strong since then. During the 2000s, the band even made its way into the hearts of Indians. Some of their popular tracks even made their way to Bollywood films.
As expected, the Twitterverse was heartbroken. Here are some of the reactions from the fans:
Apart from delivering hits like Nadiya Ke Paar, Dhani, Najane Kyun, Anjane and Chal Para, Strings’ tracks also featured in a couple of Bollywood movies. One of their albums was also co-produced by Bollywood actor John Abraham. The two musicians also played a key role in producing and creating music for Pakistan’s Coke Studio version and worked on four seasons.
