The animated version of 'Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah' will feature iconic characters like Jethaalal, Daya, Bapuji and Tapu, among others.

There is a piece of good news for all the hardcore fans of one of the longest-running sitcoms, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. If you are one of those who have loved watching characters Jethaalal, Daya, Bapuji and Tapu cook-up a storm, then we are sure you're going to be excited when you know that soon you can watch all these characters in a toon avatar.

One of the popular kids' channels, Sony Yay, is all set to bring Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah to our television sets as an animation series. Bringing back the popular characters as toons the show is sure to offer a free pass to enter the ‘world of craziness’.

The show holds a special place in the 90’s kids. The show's fans would especially identify the name and might reminisce sitting in front of the TV sets with the family and watching residents of the Gokuldham Society solve their day-to-day problems with a twist of humour.

The kids' channel took to Instagram to share promos of all the new show as well as the characters. The new andaaz in which the viewers can expect to see them has got us excited!

First look of Tapu

Sharing a sneak peek on the Tapu’s character, the caption channel's social media account read, “We are super excited to present the first look of Tapu in our brand new show, coming soon!” For the unversed, Tapu is a mischievous kid who paints the town red with his band of friends, who are also a part of the same housing society.

Super-mom: Daya

In another promo, sharing the character Daya’s look in animation, the channels post read, “Super-mom, super-woman and she is full of craziness. Here’s an exclusive first look of Daya from our brand new show, coming soon only on Sony YAY! (sic)”. In the character promo, one can also see Daya doing her iconic garba step.

In the television series, the character of Daya was played by actress Disha Vakani. The hardcore fans have been missing the actor onscreen since she took maternity leave. Since then, the fans have been eagerly waiting for her return. However, the sad news is that a report in Koimoi says that Disha has decided to quit.

First look of Jethaalal and Bapuji

While the resemblance of regular Jethaalal and Bapuji to their cartoon avatar is uncanny, Bapuji’s famous winter cap is hard to miss. Sharing the first look at the characters, the channel’s account mentioned, “They have a love-hate relationship and it’s worth to watch them have fun. Sneak peek into the world of craziness as we present the first look of Jethaalal & Bapuji from our brand new show coming soon!”

Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah first aired in July 2008 and has been running on television since then. The show is based on the weekly column Duniya Ne Undha Chasma. The sitcom stars an ensemble cast including Dilip Joshi, Disha Vakani, Shailesh Lodha and Munmun Dutta. The animation series is expected to release in April.

It's safe to say that the news of an animation series based on the sitcom has kindled interest in the fans.
