7-Year-Old Girl's Testimony Leads to Arrest in Mundhwa Murder Case

Pune: A 24-year-old woman, Kavita Nagraj Gaddar, was strangled to death by her brother-in-law, Mallikarjun Sharanappa Gaddar, in a shocking incident that took place in Mundhwa, Pune. The crime was uncovered after a 7-year-old girl, who was present at the time, provided crucial information to the police.

The incident took place on the afternoon of August 14th at around 3:30 PM. Assistant Police Inspector Sanjay Siddheshwar Mali from Mundhwa Police Station filed a complaint regarding the incident.

According to the police, Kavita Nagraj Gaddar was found dead at her residence. Initially, the police registered it as an accidental death, but the post-mortem report revealed that she had died due to strangulation.

Meanwhile, the family took her body to their native village in Karnataka for the funeral. Once the police realized it was a murder, they summoned the family back for further investigation.

Senior Police Inspector Balasaheb Nikam of Mundhwa Police Station provided more details. He stated that Kavita's husband was away in his village for work, leaving Kavita, her two children, and her brother-in-law at home.

At the time of the incident, Kavita's elder son was asleep in the living room, while her 7-year-old daughter was inside the house. The accused, Mallikarjun Gaddar, sent the daughter outside to play and then strangled Kavita to death. The daughter later informed the police that she was told to go outside.

Mallikarjun, who works in construction and has a drinking habit, had a domestic dispute with Kavita over money for alcohol. This argument led him to strangle her. The police have filed a case against him, and Inspector Balasaheb Nikam is currently investigating the matter.
