Accused in Assault, Molestation Case Sentenced to Five Years in Jail
Otur: A minor girl was abducted from the jurisdiction of police station in Otur (Taluka Junnar) and beaten up and molested. In this regard, Sessions Court Judge At Rajgurunagar (Khed) A.S. Syed sentenced the accused, Krishna Maruti Umbre (39), a resident of Junnar, to five years rigorous imprisonment.
Assistant Police Inspector of Otur Which. According to Thate, in 2016, accused Krishna Umbre was booked under sections 354, 363, 323 of the Indian Penal Code and sections 8 and 12 of the POCSO Act for abducting, assaulting and molesting a minor girl.
Assistant Police Inspector Archana Dayal, the then investigating officer of the case, had filed the charge sheet at the sessions court Khed within the stipulated time.
The case was decided by Sessions Court Judge A S Syed on November 6, 2024. The accused has been identified as Krishna Umbre.
Section 354 carries three years rigorous imprisonment and one month simple imprisonment for non-payment of fine of Rs 1,000 and one month simple imprisonment if the fine is not paid, and section 363 punishable with five years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1,000 and one month simple imprisonment if the fine is not paid.
Public prosecutor Milind Pandkar, district court prosecution officer police inspector Santosh Gholve, assistant police inspector Lahu Thate, Khed sessions court prosecution officer police sub-inspector S.S. B. Kharat, the court's counsel, police constable Govind Dhakane, presided over the proceedings.
