However, their differing religious backgrounds—Shabreen being from the Muslim community and Brijesh being a Hindu —led to strong opposition from Brijesh's family regarding their potential marriage.

As the situation unfolded, Shabreen was accused of kidnapping Brijesh's three-year-old nephew due to the family's objections to their relationship. A formal complaint was lodged by Brijesh's family at the Waliv police station in Palghar, prompting the investigation.

According to police officer Jairaj Ranawane, a case was registered after analyzing CCTV footage that captured the incident. The investigation intensified after questioning an auto-rickshaw driver, who revealed that he had transported Shabareen with the child. Police are also exploring Brijesh Singh's possible involvement in the alleged kidnapping.

The incident took a turn on Saturday when Brijesh's nephew, identified as Prince, was on his way to school. Allegedly, Shabreen exploited the boy's recognition of her to entice him to go with her.

The child, being familiar with Shabareen, complied without hesitation. When Prince failed to return home by the afternoon, his family became alarmed and went to the school to inquire about his whereabouts. There, they learned that an unknown woman had taken him under the pretense of needing to get medication.

Acting swiftly, the police examined the CCTV footage that confirmed Shabreen taking the child into an auto-rickshaw. The investigation led to the auto driver, who disclosed that he dropped Shabareen near Naigaon. Utilizing mobile location tracking, police apprehended Shabareen in Bandra.
