Pune: Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Saturday (July 20) stated that the pilot project of AI-camera based laundry system will be adopted across India soon.
Vaishnaw said, "Pune is a big technology hub. The railway has decided to develop technology for the comfort of users and track inspection in Pune. These solutions are being developed here. The laundry system being developed in Pune is AI-camera based.
Traditionally, only 2 per cent linen are sample checked, but with the help of technology 100 per cent checks can be implemented. Those clothes which are not cleaned well are rejected by the AI-camera based system. We are using it as a pilot project here and it will be developed and implemented across India soon."
Vaishnaw also announced phased development of Pune Railway Station to provide modern services and facilities to passengers while preserving its heritage status.
Vaishnaw, during his tour of Pune city, inspected the station and highlighted the increasing population and growing needs of Pune.
Vaishnaw emphasized that the development plan will not only focus on increasing the capacity of Pune Station but also on the development of nearby stations.
A mega coaching terminal near Uruli Station is planned, which will benefit Pune’s passengers. Additionally, the steep incline on the ghat section between Pune and Mumbai will be reduced, removing the need for helper engines.
Central Railway General Manager Ram Yadav, Divisional Railway Manager of Pune Division Indu Dubey, Additional Divisional Railway Manager B.K. Singh, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Dr. Milind Hirwe, and other senior officials were present during the visit.
