Pune: The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has introduced a draft framework for the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) program.

The new curriculum, designed for both three- and four-year programs, has been developed with a focus on aligning education with industry needs and emerging trends.

One of the key features of the new curriculum is the inclusion of internships, which will provide students with hands-on experience in addition to their academic learning.

According to a circular issued by AICTE, the council has brought BBA, BMS (Bachelor of Management Studies), and BCA (Bachelor of Computer Applications) programs under its jurisdiction starting this year.

As a result, these programs will now adhere to AICTE guidelines. AICTE had previously announced plans to redesign these courses, and this BBA curriculum has been crafted with input from experts in both industry and academia.

The new framework has been structured to cater to the demands of the industry while incorporating essential principles and emerging trends, with the program designed to carry 120 to 160 credits over the course of three or four years.

The curriculum highlights interdisciplinary learning, experiential teaching methods, and a strong emphasis on industry-related projects.

It focuses on developing problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and effective communication, which are considered essential in today's business environment.

Additionally, internships have been included in the course to help students gain real-world industry experience, thus bridging the gap between academic learning and professional practice.

Institutions are also permitted to modify the curriculum to suit local needs, allowing flexibility in implementation. AICTE has noted that this new curriculum will enhance the employability of students and also foster innovation and entrepreneurship.

The State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell will now oversee the centralized admission process for the BBA program, a change from the previous system where individual colleges handled admissions.
