Pune: In a meeting at the Ministry, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar emphasized the need for coordinated efforts to alleviate Pune’s severe traffic congestion.
Pawar highlighted the urgency of accelerating the Metro Line 3 project and securing approvals for new Metro routes. He also called for quick action on the Pune Ring Road project and immediate road repairs.
The meeting also reviewed progress on key development projects across Pune, including the Pune-Nashik High-Speed Rail and new medical institutions. He emphasized the importance of timely completion of development projects to prevent cost escalation and long-term losses to the state.
During this time, Ajit Pawar also reviewed the progress of projects like the medical college in Satara, the military school, the government medical college in Alibag's Usar, the Rewas to Redi marine highway, Pune Outer Ring Road, the GST building in Wadala,
the Pune Nashik high-speed railway, the main headquarters of the 'Sarathi' organization in Pune, the regional sub-centers of 'Sarathi' in Aundh, Nashik, Kolhapur, Nagpur, Amravati, the Krishibhavan in Pune and other projects.
Ajit Pawar instructed officials to follow up with the central government for approval of the extended metro routes from Hadapsar to Lonikalbhor, Hadapsar to Saswad, Swargate to Katraj, Vanaz to Chandni Chowk, Ramwadi to Wagholi. Pawar asked officials to promptly fill the potholes on the roads in Pune city.
"Every year, millions of new vehicles come onto the roads in Pune city, increasing the traffic load day by day. To streamline traffic in Pune city and suburbs, the speed of all ongoing infrastructure works, such as the metro, flyovers, ring roads, should be increased.
For this, all departments related to these projects should work in proper coordination to relieve Pune residents from traffic congestion," stated Pawar.
