Pune: Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has been confirmed as the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) candidate for the upcoming assembly elections from the Baramati assembly constituency.
Preparations for his campaign are in full swing in Baramati city, where campaign vehicles featuring his name are being readied. The vehicles urge voters to press the NCP’s clock symbol to secure Ajit Pawar’s victory in the elections.
This announcement clarifies that Ajit Pawar will contest from Baramati, representing the NCP, BJP, Shiv Sena, and their allies within the Mahayuti alliance. According to party insiders, Ajit Pawar plans to file his nomination papers on October 29, which is the final day for submission.
In recent months, following the Lok Sabha elections, Ajit Pawar had hinted multiple times that he might not run for the assembly seat from Baramati, causing considerable anxiety among NCP supporters in the region.
At one point, party workers intercepted his convoy in Baramati, insisting that he be their candidate. In response, Pawar assured them that their desire would be fulfilled, aligning with their expectations.
Ajit Pawar has now confirmed that he will submit his nomination for the Baramati assembly seat for the eighth time. He has already secured seven consecutive victories in the Baramati assembly elections.
Veteran leader Sharad Pawar is expected to present a strong challenge, indicating that for the first time, Ajit Pawar could face opposition from his own family members.
The aim appears to be to keep Ajit Pawar’s efforts concentrated in Baramati. Ajit Pawar is likely to emphasize the development projects he has undertaken in the region over the past five years.
