Pune: The political landscape of Baramati has seen notable changes following the state’s shifting political equations and the recent Lok Sabha elections.

One of the most significant developments has been the increased contact within the Pawar family, which came into the spotlight after internal divisions surfaced. In a candid speech, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar acknowledged this change during a lawyers' gathering held in Baramati on Tuesday (October 8).

Ajit Pawar, known for his humorous and straightforward approach, addressed the audience with his characteristic wit. Advocate Arvind Gaikwad of Baramati had requested Ajit Pawar to formally announce his candidacy for the upcoming legislative elections.

Responding to the request, Pawar remarked, “The candidate you are thinking of is exactly the one you will see contesting the Legislative Assembly elections.”

Pawar did not shy away from discussing the recent internal dynamics of his family. "In recent times, something new has happened in Baramati. The Pawar family has been connecting with people more than ever before. We have been visiting homes, increasing outreach efforts, and strengthening our bonds with the public.

We’ve even started distributing items such as sarees, buckets, tiffin boxes, and bicycles," he said, adding with a laugh, “Of course, we only give these things because we have them. Don’t hesitate to accept them.”

Ajit Pawar, while reflecting on his long-standing political career, added a humorous note: “From 1967 until now, this is just a small start; we have so much more that we could distribute.”

As his speech progressed, a voice from the crowd shouted, "One promise, Ajit Dada!" In response, Pawar, quick on his feet, quipped, “Are you a lawyer?” gently reminding the audience that the gathering was a lawyers’ event.

However, in his typical light-hearted manner, he concluded by saying, “Don’t take this the wrong way, or I might lose one vote,” drawing laughter and applause from the crowd.
