Pune: A young man posing as a Ticket Checker (TC) on the Pune-Danapur (Bihar) Express was arrested after a vigilant passenger exposed his fraudulent behavior.
The incident occurred on September 8, shortly after the train left Pune Railway Station. The impersonator, identified as Dinanath Shivshankar Sah (age 37), was checking tickets and demanding money from passengers in the general compartment while dressed in plain clothes.
A passenger aboard the express train became suspicious of Sah’s behavior and immediately reported it to the railway police upon the train's arrival at Daund Cord Line Railway Station.
Responding promptly, the railway police boarded the general compartment and detained Sah. Upon investigation, it was discovered that he had no official identification and was giving evasive responses to the authorities.
Anand Waghmare, a constable at the Daund Railway Police Station, confirmed Sah’s identity. Originally from Podaiahata in Godda district, Jharkhand, Sah was currently residing in Pune’s Deccan area.
Following a complaint filed by passenger Mohammad Rafiq, Sah was charged with impersonating a public servant and committing fraud under the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita. He was presented in court and subsequently remanded to Yerawada Central Jail.
The operation was conducted by the Daund Railway Police under the supervision of Inspector Rajendra Gaikwad, along with Sub-Inspector Ganesh Dabdade, and constables Anand Waghmare, Rupesh Salunke, Manoj Salve, Sachin Khandagale, and Narendra Pawar.
