Pune: In a shocking incident in Pune’s Ramtekdi area, an Assistant Police Inspector was severely injured when members of the notorious "Koyta Gang" attacked him with a sickle while he attempted to resolve a dispute between two warring groups. The incident occurred under the jurisdiction of the Wanawadi Police Station.

The injured officer, identified as Assistant Police Inspector Ratnadeep Gaikwad, sustained serious head injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at a local hospital.

The attack took place as Gaikwad tried to apprehend the culprits during the altercation. The assailants, Nihal Singh and Rahul Singh, both known criminals with a history of violence, launched a brutal assault on the officer with a sickle.

This attack is the latest in a series of violent incidents involving the "Koyta Gang," which has terrorized Pune in recent years. Despite numerous actions taken by the police to curb their activities, the gang continues to engage in criminal acts, including vandalism, intimidation of citizens, and now, direct attacks on law enforcement personnel.

Just last week, the gang was involved in another violent incident in the Erandwane area, where three individuals attacked a young man with a sickle, pressuring him to withdraw a police complaint. The Deccan Police Station has since registered a case of attempted murder against the three accused in that case.
