Pune: A violent incident took place at the Bank of Baroda branch in Loni Devkar, Indapur, where the assistant manager, Ganesh Kadakane, was assaulted by a group of local youths.
Indapur Police have registered a case against nine individuals, including five identified suspects: Sagar Thorat, Nikhil Thorat, Suraj Thorat, Shubham Thorat, and Mahesh Thorat, all residents of Loni Devkar. Four others involved in the incident remain unidentified.
According to the branch officer Manoj Bhosale's complaint, on August 30, Sagar Navnath Thorat, a regular customer, visited the bank with his wife and daughter to correct his wife's name in her bank account.
After Bhosale verified their documents, he referred them to another colleague for further action. However, Sagar Thorat, who appeared intoxicated, began loudly demanding immediate action and threatened to damage bank property if his demands were not met.
Assistant Manager Ganesh Kadakane intervened to de-escalate the situation but was met with verbal abuse and threats. Thorat threatened Kadakane, saying, "Come outside, I will deal with you; I will break your hands and legs."
Later that evening, as Kadakane was leaving the bank, he was confronted by the Thorat brothers and other accomplices.
They pulled him off his motorcycle, assaulted him with kicks, punches, wooden sticks, and iron rods, and forcefully took him towards Palasdev where the assault continued. A case has been filed against the assailants, and the Indapur Police are investigating the matter.
