Baramati: 11 DJ Owners Booked for Noise Violations During Dahi Handi
Pune: The Dahi Handi celebrations in Baramati took a noisy turn as DJ operators flouted the noise limits despite a strict ban. The blaring music not only disrupted public peace but also caused distress to vulnerable groups such as children, women, and the elderly.
In response, the Baramati City Police registered a case against 11 DJ operators and owners who blatantly ignored police instructions to lower the volume.
The police had previously issued warnings, emphasizing the need to adhere to the noise regulations, especially near hospitals. However, the DJs continued to increase the volume, violating the orders issued by the District Magistrate, which were in effect from 26th August to 7th September 2024.
The police have taken legal action under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Mumbai Police Act.
The DJs involved include:
Javed Amir Shaikh of RK Sound (Pune) with vehicle MH 04 FP 6012.
Suraj Madhukar Salvi (Lonavala, Satara) with vehicle MH 12 FB 0676.
Nikhil Prakash (Karad, Satara) with vehicle MH 13 B 4600.
Abhishek Kanifnath Nage (Indapur Road, Baramati, Pune) with vehicle MH 12 AA 4597.
Santosh Appa More (Baramati) with vehicle MH 12 JK 1169.
Sandeep Jaywant Shinde with vehicle MH 04 CP 2301.
Hutefa Bagwan (Wanawadi, Baramati, Pune).
Sarthak Santosh Satav (Satavvadi, Malegaon Road, Baramati) with vehicle MH 12 HD 2430.
Vijay Shankar Mane (Pahunevadi, Baramati, Pune) with vehicle MH 05 S 0506.
Vaibhav Shinde (Wakad, Pune) with vehicle MH 12 VT 3645.
Ganesh Rahul Sarode (Baramati, Pune) with vehicle MH 42 B 7137.
These vehicles were dangerously loud, causing a public disturbance, particularly near hospitals, by disregarding the noise limits.
Despite repeated verbal warnings from the police to stop the DJ sound systems, the operators increased the volume, directly violating the orders issued by the District Magistrate of Pune, which prohibited such activities in Pune Rural District from 26th August 2024 to 7th September 2024.
As a result, legal action has been taken against the drivers and owners of the aforementioned vehicles under IPC sections 292, 293, 223, and section 135 of the Mumbai Police Act, according to the FIR.
