Pune: MP Supriya Sule has publicly condemned what she described as a "parallel power centre" or "invisible force" operating in Baramati, vowing that it will be dismantled and that the ordinary people of Baramati will take charge.
Sule, without directly naming anyone, targeted Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar in her remarks, stating, "Just putting up buildings does not solve issues; there should be a shift towards creating social impact. We are here to succeed in this examination."
Yugendra Pawar, a candidate from the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar), formally submitted his nomination for the Baramati Assembly seat.
Before filing, he visited the Maruti temple in Kanheri to receive blessings. Speaking to the media on the occasion, MP Supriya Sule remarked, "For six decades, we have had blessings here, and from Pawar Saheb onwards, we have been fortunate to receive the love and support of Baramati’s people."
Sule went on to address Maharashtra's growing issues of inflation, unemployment, and declining industrial investments. She also raised concerns over recent exam paper leaks in government exams, noting that during their tenure, such leaks never occurred.
She credited the significant police recruitment efforts under the tenure of then-Home Minister R.R. Patil and questioned how, despite advanced technology, exam paper leaks continue today.
Sule also commented on the rise in reported rape cases, emphasizing the gravity of the situation, and asked, "What exactly is the Home Ministry and the police administration doing?"
She further criticized the government, pointing out a surge in drug-related crimes in Pune district and a statewide increase in corruption, attributing these issues to a lack of planning by the current administration.
Yugendra Pawar Invokes Sharad Pawar’s Legacy
Though this is his first election, Yugendra Pawar expressed confidence in his chances, citing his long-standing involvement in social work and Sharad Pawar's continued support.
“The people of Baramati elected Pawar Saheb when he was 27; today, I ask for the same opportunity from the people. Just as Saheb has always served Baramati, I will also work diligently. The temple in Kanheri has blessed us, and this tradition, begun by Pawar Saheb in 1967, continues through our family.”
