Pune: An evening walk for a 30-year-old woman turned into a harrowing ordeal when she was threatened at knifepoint and robbed of her jewelry by unknown assailants near Bhigwan Road in Baramati. The incident occurred on July 24 in the Palkhi Marg area of the MIDC locality.
According to police sources, the Baramati Taluka police have registered a case against three unknown individuals for molestation, robbery, and other charges.
The 30-year-old married woman lodged a complaint stating that around 7 PM on July 24, she was walking near the flyover at Palkhi Marg Chowk.
One man was talking on the phone near the divider. As she went into a sugarcane field to relieve herself, an unknown man followed her, held a knife to her throat, and threatened to kill her if she didn't hand over her jewelry.
Frightened, she agreed to comply, but at that moment, two more men appeared. One of them grabbed her phone while another forcibly took her to a nearby well in the sugarcane field.
There, under the threat of a knife, they forcibly removed her gold mangalsutra, earrings, and a gold ring, worth a total of ₹1.05 lakh. The man with the knife demanded she undress.
When she refused, they tore off her dupatta and top and forcibly removed her leggings. One of them took semi-nude photos of her, molesting her in the process.
After this, one of the assailants discarded her phone, saying it could be tracked, and they fled the scene. The complaint notes that the assailants were between 25 and 32 years old.
